Is Honest Beauty Clean?

Wondering is Honest Beauty clean?

I actually LOVE Honest Beauty, primarily because of their gorgeous smells (hello, orange-vanilla mix!), and I use it primarily with my wavy hair – but they also have some stellar beauty products.

Their name DOES have “honest” right in it, but how honest are they really?

In my search for the best clean beauty brands, I decided to dig into Honest Beauty – the brainchild of Jessica Alba that’s actually been around the block for quite a while. If you’re wondering whether or not it’s TRULY a clean brand, you’ve landed yourself in the right place.

Let’s dig in…

So, is Honest Beauty Clean?

Let’s just get it right out of the way at the top: yes, Honest Beauty is considered a clean brand. Which is great because I truly LOVE using them.

While there is no official “clean, green or organic” regulation in the beauty industry, Honest Beauty is considered to be a clean brand because:

  • They don’t use toxic ingredients in their products – in fact they have a NO List™ that contains 3,500 products they WILL NOT use in their stuff.
  • Specifically, they don’t use parabens in their products.
  • They focus on sustainability and use sustainable practices.
  • They are cruelty free.

Is Honest Beauty Cruelty Free?

Yes, Honest Beauty is cruelty free. The Honest Company (their parent company) is certified by PETA as being cruelty free – which means they DO NOT test on animals (yay!).

According to their corporate policy, they don’t test on animals and they don’t work with third-party companies that do. Their products are also vegan, which means they don’t contain any animal or animal-derived ingredients.

Is Honest Beauty Scent Free?

No, Honest Beauty is not scent free – some of their products do use synthetic scents. Ultimately, this means that they might not make the right products for you – and that’s completely OK.

Does Honest Beauty Use Parabens?

No, Honest Beauty does NOT use parabens in their products.

Parabens are chemicals used as preservatives in many cosmetic and pharmaceutical products to prevent the growth of bacteria and mold. Due to concerns about their potential health effects, such as impacting hormone function, many seek paraben-free alternatives.

My Pick for Honest Beauty Products

A collection of minimalistic makeup

Conditioning Detangler

Citrus Vanilla is a delicious smell that’s PERFECT for detangling messy and wavy curly hair. This is BY FAR my favorite detangler and it’s perfect for hair that gets wildly knotted (like mine). I particularly like that this is hypoallergenic.

Makeup Remover Facial Wipes

This is a VERY basic item, but I do like these Makeup Remover Wipes. They’re simple, hypoallergenic (which is important for someone like me that has sensitive skin) and they’re gentle. They’re a bit more expensive than some other choices out there, but sustainable is worth it.

Lash Love: Serum + Mascara Kit

I don’t wear a lot of makeup, so I tend to pick one or two focus areas – usually lashes and brows. Regardless, this serum + mascara kit is perfect for creating a minimalistic look. I’ll admit it doesn’t create the biggest lashes but they work for the right look.

Final Thoughts: Is Honest Beauty Clean?

Yes, Honest Beauty is a clean company that I would highly recommend using – simply because I like their products. But their line extends beyond beauty, in particular, I hear a lot of great things about their baby products. If you’re looking for a quality, clean brand to check out, I’d recommend Honest Beauty.
